Chronic Disease Coalition announces partnership with The Mighty to help advocate for people with chronic health conditions

7.18.17

The Chronic Disease Coalition has formed a partnership with The Mighty, a story-based health community focused on improving the lives of people facing disease, disorders, mental illness and disabilities.

More than half of Americans face serious health conditions or medical issues. An estimated 133 million Americans live with at least one chronic disease or condition. They want more than information – they want to be inspired. The Mighty publishes real stories about real people facing real challenges.

As a partner, the Chronic Disease Coalition has a home page on The Mighty’s website and will gain exposure alongside stories written by people living with chronic diseases and long-term health conditions.

The Mighty provides opportunities to build a sense of community while helping to increase understanding and disease awareness. Every day, hundreds of individuals living with chronic diseases and conditions – from arthritis and lupus to chronic kidney disease and multiple sclerosis – write articles, blogs and features to tell their story, inspire others and provide support.

Here’s a brief sampling of the stories featured: I Won’t Apologize for Having Fun While Chronically Ill, To the Person Who Thinks My Fibromyalgia Isn’t Real, 8 Tips to Help You on Your Chronic Illness Journey and My ‘Game of Thrones’ Playlist to Get Me Through Tough Days With Illness.

The Chronic Disease Coalition is dedicated to protecting patients’ rights, exposing instances of patient discrimination and raising disease awareness for people living with chronic diseases and conditions. With this new partnership, we will be able to advocate for even more people.

If you’re interested in sharing your perspective and experiences to help empower others living with chronic diseases, we encourage you to submit a story to The Mighty. If you haven’t yet, you can also submit your personal story to the Chronic Disease Coalition by clicking here.

Together, the Chronic Disease Coalition and The Mighty will continue to empower individuals living with chronic conditions.
